Do I need angel one client id to use smart api?

I was checking the code on GitHub and it expects to pass client if, pin and totp to login. I read that smart api can be used without angel one account, but the code says otherwise. Can you clarify please?
I tried to enable totp from my smartapi login and it asks me to login using angle one client id.

@Moderator_2 Then what's the point of making "Angel Client ID" optional in the sign up page!!! It should have been made mandatory.
